Scottish Obstetric Cardiology Network

The Scottish Obstetric Cardiology Network was commissioned to improve the care for women with a heart condition who are thinking about or who have a pregnancy.

Our aims include:

  • Improving access to information to help women with heart disease make an informed choices on contraception and pregnancy
  • Developing pathways of care to ensure women across Scotland have access to specialist care and advice when they need it
  • Providing education for healthcare professionals in the care of women with heart disease of child bearing age
  • Raising awareness of the need to provide women with advice about any risk about pregnancy may pose in the context of their heart condition

By working collaboratively across professional settings and with patients and their families, we will reduce the risk of complications caused by heart disease in pregnancy.
